P&P Charges May 2012
School Style uses Royal Mail as its preferred delivery partner. The universal delivery service provided by Royal Mail works well and the inclusion of Saturday as a standard delivery date is a benefit for the majority of our customers. As most customers receive a daily delivery anyway it also helps minimise our carbon footprint.
There has been a huge amount of news coverage recently about rises in Royal Mail’s pricing. As it struggles to maintain its financial viability against private competition and new media, Royal Mail has gained new price setting powers from Ofcom and as a result of this has implemented the biggest price rises in 37 years.
Royal Mail prices have risen across the board and by as much as 39% from April 2012.
In light of the price rises School Style has considered other delivery partners but we still feel that Royal Mail offers the best all round service to meet the needs of the business and of our customers.
School Style’s postage charges have not changed since January 2009, however like other businesses we cannot ignore the financial impact of the April price rises and have to make some changes ourselves.
However at the same time we are making positive changes to our service that will benefit our customers.
From May 2012 :
- The standard Packing and Postage Charge will reduce from £2.49 to £1.99.
- The threshold above which Packing and Postage is paid for by School Style will increase from £15 to £25 (inclusive of VAT).
- We have moved to a FASTER and TRACKED service which will ensure a speedier and more consistently reliable service.
- We have implemented a “SAFEPLACE” facility enabling customers to specify a safe place to leave their delivery should it arrive whilst they are not present.
We don’t like changing anything that was well received and working well but given the current situation we have little choice and would like to think that this new approach is a fair solution.
